Medical Assistant / Scribe

Brooklyn, NY 11218 Full Time

$23-25 Hourly

Position Summary:

A busy, multi-specialty healthcare center is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant / Scribe to support physicians in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care. This dual-function role involves both direct patient support and accurate real-time clinical documentation . The ideal candidate will have prior scribe experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care Support:

1. Escort patients from the waiting area to exam rooms

2. Record vital signs, height, and weight , and document them accurately

3. Maintain exam rooms between patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and supply readiness

4. Prepare medical instruments, stock exam rooms, and ensure equipment is operational

5. Perform EKGs, draw blood, collect specimens, and assist with processing in the lab

6. Provide patient services under provider direction within scope of practice

Clinical Documentation (Scribe Duties):

1. Accurately document the provider's patient encounter in real time within the EHR

2. Track and follow up on diagnostic tests, specialist referrals, and hospital visits

3. Process medication prior authorizations and support providers using Prescription Monitoring Programs

4. Assist in maintaining accurate and timely charting in accordance with regulatory standards

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous experience as a medical scribe is required

• One of the following: MA certificate, technician certificate, high school diploma, college diploma, or 1+ year of experience in a similar role

• Proficient verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a clinical setting

• Experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems
