Position Overview:

The Recruitment Coordinator is responsible for managing and implementing Generation Hopes recruitment process for our Scholar Program for teen parents and their mentors, which includes overseeing the Scholar application process, being a voice in the community to spread awareness about Generation Hope, executing strategies to recruit specific student groups, such as teen fathers, and recruiting mentors (i.e. Sponsors) to pair with Scholars. The Recruitment Coordinator should have a solid track record in large-scale recruitment efforts, a strong background in public speaking, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers. This person will often act as the first point of contact for Generation Hope and must be able to excite people about our mission and inspire them to action.

Primary Responsibilities:

Scholar Recruitment

  • Conduct college-readiness workshops at schools, nonprofits, and social service agencies throughout the DMV region each year to provide parenting students with basic information on postsecondary opportunities.
  • Execute creative strategies for recruiting specific groups of young parents, such as teen fathers.
  • Host virtual and in-person events relevant to recruitment, including finding speakers, coordinating promotion, and providing general event planning.
  • Oversee the application process for Scholar applicants, which includes updating the Scholar application annually, working with the communications team to announce the application cycle to external audiences, ensuring all incoming applications are complete, uploading all relevant documentation, and leading the interview process.
  • Create and manage a Scholar recruitment database that documents teen parents reached through all outreach efforts and progress toward goals.
  • Reach all Scholar recruitment targets established by Generation Hope leadership, guided by Generation Hopes strategic plan.
  • Work with the Career and Recruitment Manager to synchronize Scholar and mentor onboarding.

Sponsor Recruitment

  • Develop, lead, and implement strategy around recruiting one-on-one mentors for Generation Hopes DC-area programming
  • Ensure that Generation Hope is able to recruit a diverse group of mentors that reflects the diversity of the Scholar community
  • Work with the development team and the Director of DC Programming to raise funds in support of Generation Hopes mentoring program
  • Work with the Career and Recruitment Manager to reach all Sponsor recruitment targets established by Generation Hope leadership, guided by Generation Hopes strategic plan.
  • Oversee the application process for Sponsor applicants, which includes updating the Sponsor application annually, working with the communications team to announce the application cycle to external audiences, ensuring all incoming applications are complete, uploading all relevant documentation, and leading the interview process.
  • Create and manage a Sponsor recruitment database that documents teen parents reached through all outreach efforts and progress toward goals.

Communications

  • Work with the communications team to amplify Scholar and Sponsor recruitment messaging by providing content, priorities, etc.
  • Speak regularly at events around the region that are attended by teen parents and potential Scholars and/or youth professionals for the purpose of meeting Scholar recruitment goals.
  • Be an active member of the local community, representing Generation Hope at tabling events, community discussions and other events.

Other

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2 to 3 years of related work experience.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Must be available for special events and speaking opportunities, which may occur on evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual - Spanish/English strongly preferred

Physical demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.


Work environment: Normal office environment. Some work will take place off-site during the speaking engagement and workshops.
