The Opportunity

Are you a hands-on Senior Accountant who loves mastering the full accounting cycle and untangling complex reconciliations ? This role is the technical engine of our monthly close. You’ll own production—not people management—while partnering with our Staff Accounting team. You’ll handle our most complex entities and happily jump in on simpler work when needed.

What You’ll Do

• Own the monthly close for a portfolio of entities: accruals, prepaids, deferred revenue, COGS, fixed assets, intercompany; consolidations as needed.

• Design & run the data pipeline into QBO from third-party platforms and processors, including:

  • BILL (Bill.com): vendor bills, payments, clearing controls

  • ServiceTitan: jobs/invoices/payments, WIP/job-costing mapping

  • Shopify: orders, fees, payouts; gateway/channel mapping

  • Stripe/Clover/Merchant Processing: orders, fees, payouts; gateway/channel mapping

  • Amazon (FBA/FBM): settlement files, fees/reserves, inbound shipping

  • (Nice to have) Clio or other legal platforms; plus CSV imports/bank/CC feeds and connectors (A2X/Webgility/Synder)

• Perform all reconciliations & accuracy checks (Senior-owned control):

  • Three-way tie-outs : platform reports ↔ processor payouts ↔ bank deposits

  • Maintain clearing accounts (Shopify/Stripe/Amazon/BILL) with zero stale balances

  • Maintain exception logs, variance thresholds, root-cause notes, and remediation plans

• Prepare GAAP financials (BS/PL/CF), schedules, and variance analyses with a crisp close memo.

• Guide & review your paired Staff Accountant’s work (inputs/coding/recs prep)—you provide concise redlines; you perform final reconciliations.

• Harden processes : mapping tables (items/SKUs/tax), standardized import rules, close checklists, and light automation.

• Coordinate with tax preparers at year-end: assemble tax packages (TB, book–tax adjustments, depreciation/owner distributions) and respond to PBCs. (Income-tax experience is a plus, not required.)

• Collaborate with CFOs on management reporting (KPIs/dashboards) and ad-hoc analysis; communicate clearly via Slack/Zoom/Email .

What You Bring

• 5–7+ years of full-cycle, hands-on accounting (public/CAS or multi-client environment ideal).

• Expert QBO (Online required; Desktop exposure a plus).

• Proven, practical experience importing and reconciling transaction-level data from third-party apps into QBO (ServiceTitan/Shopify/Amazon/BILL, etc.).

• Advanced Sheets/Excel (pivots, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, text functions; Power Query/Sheets QUERY a plus).

• Strong US GAAP ; comfort with rev-rec (SaaS/services/e-com), deferred revenue, and job costing/WIP (ServiceTitan).

• Documentation discipline : audit-ready workpapers, tie-outs, roll-forwards, and control evidence.

• Tech-savvy & system-oriented: Slack, Google Workspace, and Karbon (or similar PM).

• Pluses (not required):

  • Law firm bookkeeping & trust/IOLTA (three-way trust reconciliations; basic state-bar controls)

  • Income-tax exposure (tax package assembly; book–tax differences; S-corp/partnership basics)

Location & Collaboration

• Remote-first (US) with a core collaboration window.

• Strong preference for Northeast Florida (Palm Coast / Flagler / St. Johns / Volusia; Jacksonville/Orlando welcome).

30/60/90-Day Outcomes

• 30 days: Complete onboarding; run close for 1–2 entities; document a systems→QBO data-flow map and control checklist; <10 review notes.

• 60 days: Independently own 3–4 entities; implement three-way tie-outs for at least one e-com or ServiceTitan client; no uncleared deposits >30 days.

• 90 days: Consistent 5-day close for your pod; zero stale clearing balances ; monthly variance packs with driver memos; at least one automation documented.

  • If assigned a legal client: stand up three-way IOLTA reconciliation SOPs and deliver a clean month-end trust package.
