NIL stands for “Name, Image, and Likeness” specifically referring to the use of an athlete’s NIL through marketing and promotional endeavors. NCAA changed its rules to allow student-athletes to monetize their NIL in July 2021 for the first time in its history.

The CR97 Fund offers Stony Brook student-athletes opportunities to engage in permissible NIL activities, including autograph signings, social media promotions, camps & clinics, charity events, special appearances, speaking engagements, product reviews/endorsements, commercials, and more.
Are contributions tax deductible?
The CR97 Fund is a registered LLC and, as such, contributions are not tax deductible.

We strive to keep our operating costs as low as possible so that 90% of the contributions can be paid out to student-athletes. Any remaining funds will be used to cover fundraising expenses, deal facilitation, and various administrative expenses.
